Westfalian Auctions in Münster-Handorf

Finlay became the price highlight of the 2010 Munster Winter Auction, the first of five auctions of Westfalian Sport Horses held at Münster-Handorf, Germany, in 2010. The 4-year old grey gelding Finlay (by Florestan x Donnerhall) sold for 30,000 euro to Sweden. He was bred and presented by Heinrich Baumeister.

The second most expensive horse of the Winter Auction collection was Fioness, a bay mare by Flovino x Lauries Crusador xx x Argument/T. She sold for 24,500 euro. The best selling young colt was the rising 3-year old Hotmail (by Hotline x Royal Angelo I). He sold for 16,000 euro.

For the first time in Munster, Chinese clients bought four horses. A Chinese guest student of Westfalian board member August Wilhelm Schmale has been studying German for a year and she had been trying to get some Chinese people to Munster for a long time. This time it worked. The Chinese delegation was very impressed by the Munster auction experience and will come back for the next auctions.

The best selling dressage pony was Donna Leon, a 4-year old chestnut mare by Don't Worry x Vita Nova's Golden Boris. She sold for 5,900 euro.

The average sales prie for a sport horse was 10,271 euro. For an unridden colt the average price rose from 8,800 euro last year to 9,960 € this year. Twenty-two horses sold abroad. Three to Japan, France, Portugal, Great Britain and Spain.
