The selection process for Swedish young horses, which aim to qualify for the 2010 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany, includes national selection shows, three training seminars and one final qualification event hosted at the 2010 CDI Falsterbo 8-11 July 2010.
Official young horse tests were being held during spring at national shows throughout Sweden. Riders who scored at least 78% in the 5-year old division and 74% in the 6-year old division were invited to three training seminars. Yesterday the second of three training sessions took place in Everlöv, Sweden, with chef d'equipe Bo Jenå and Jan-Ove Olsson as clinicians.
Swedish magazine Tidningen Ridsport reported that six combinations appeared at the clinic in Everlöv after several pairs withdrew. Amongst them were 6-year old stallion Dalwhinnie (by De Niro x Rohdiamant) and Yemen (by Danone I x Granit), who both participated in their second clinic so far. Further horses were 5-year old Infernal T (by Indoctro x Cortez), Fagott and Minna Telde's Isac (by Hip Hop x Master). Telde had also scheduled to appear with Flashdance, but she cancelled that ride.
Ridsport noted the performance of Marita Linnell with the 6-year old Ozzy (aka Sir Price). The combination is aiming for Verden, but has a "full time job" as members of the Mounted Guard. The combination also appeared in the wedding procession of Swedish crown Princess Victoria and her husband Daniel Westling.
The final clinic will be hosted in Ericsberg on 30th June 2010 before the actual final selection event in Falsterbo.
