For Matthias Rath the 2011 CDI Munich can come. The Kronberg based German Male Dressage Champion is ready to ride Totilas for the first time in competition in the Grand Prix Special tour in Munich.
"I'm looking forward to the show," Rath stated in latest press release spewed out by the Totilas PR machine. "I'm anxious to find out how Totilas will present himself in a show atmosphere. Munich will be an important experience on our mutual path forward. Our goal is to recommend ourselves for the German Team at the CDIO Aachen."
Rath is missing the scores to compete in the World Dressage Masters circuit so will be riding in the lower profile CDI Grand Prix Special tour instead, which starts on Thursday 2 June 2011 at 11h00.
Rath's 11-year old Dutch warmblood stallion Totilas (by Gribaldi x Glendale) arrived at his stepmom's home "Schafhof" in Kronberg begin May and the rider was able to train intensively in all quietness the past three weeks. Before that Totilas was based at his co-owner Paul Schockemöhle's stallion station in Muhlen, Germany, where the black stallion had to fulfil his breeding duties.
"Totilas feels well at Schafhof and also as a breeding stallion he does his duty equally well and professional as in Muhlen," Rath explained. "He is really very relaxed."
Besides working on his dressage career, the 26-year old Rath is still studying Business Management at university and completed his Bachelor's program by writing a thesis on which he focused the past few weeks. "This bachelor work was a welcome change," said Rath. "It was a great diversion and helped me keep my head clear."
