With the 2011 German Dressage Championships coming up this week, the time was near for Totilas' new freestyle to be ready. Today Totilas' PR-agent revealed that renowned DJ Paul van Dyk signed for the new Kur to Music of the popular black stallion.
Paul van Dyk has worked three months to create a classically inspired freestyle which should fit the movement mechanism of the stallion. "We're incredibly enthusiastic about this musical master piece which fits Totilas and his gaits wonderfully," Rath commented. "I got goosebumps when I heard the music the first time. I just hope that we can put a smile on the spectators' faces with our freestyle."
For Van Dyk this was his first production and composition of a freestyle, which included an orcherstral setting. "First I established the timing, tempo and rhythm of the kur," Van Dyk explained. The next phase was the composition. "For that I flew to London for a week where I established the classical musical layout with my long-time songwriter and partner Johnny MacDaid."
Back in Berlin Van Dyk worked on arranging and recording the music at the Berlin Nukleus Studio. "Matthias Rath and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff were there as a guest and have heard the recordings again and agreed to them. The final production and arrangement took place in my own studio in Berlin," Van Dyk explained.
