The KWPN licensed breeding stallion Democraat passed away at age 27. The grey stallion (by Pion x Silvano) was euthanized at his owners' place, the Van Manen brothers in Ede, The Netherlansds, due to old age issues.

The 1985 born Democraat was by Pion out of ster mare Wilena (by Silvano x Pericles xx). He was licensed with the Dutch warmblood society in 1988 and exported soon afterwards. He completed his Stallion Performance Test in Warendorf, which he won with 138.62 points beating all his German colleagues. He was approved for Hanover, Oldenburg, Rhineland, Westfalia, and all South German breed societies.

Democraat was a very versatile stallion. Anky van Grunsven competed him up to small tour level and the stallion also jumped nationally up to a course height of 1.40 m.

Democraat's most famous dressage offspring includes Sonja Gademan's Grand Prix horse Jup, which was a Dutch reserve team horse for the 2000 Olympic Games and Christine Traurig's Grand Prix horse Sambuca (now ridden by Venezuelan Irina Moleiro).

He also sired several small tour dressage horses such as the 1989 born licensed Henderson (by Democraat x Amor) as well as Duncan, Dansing Man, Dunhill, Deauville, Demiro II, Libido and Jivaro.

As a dam sire Democraat made his genes count in Steffen Peters' double WEG bronze medal winning Ravel (by Contango x Democraat) and in Sabine Egbers' Grand Prix horse Limited Edition (by Lord Sinclair x Democraat).
