German Grand Prix rider Markus Gribbe has resigned as technical leader of Dressage Canada's high performance program. Gribbe was appointed on the job in March 2011 and succeeded Canadian team coach Robert Dover.
"I feel that the time has come to move on and focus more on my own horses, riding and building my own training facility," Gribbe stated. "The position of Technical Leader is too time consuming. To do both, I strongly feel that in order to give 100% I have to regretfully choose."
Gribbe mentioned that he feels "satisfied with the standard of my work and behaviour. I have enjoyed my time very much with all the Canadian dressage riders and I learned a lot."
The German based rider has expressed his willingness to assist in the smooth transfer of all his responsibilities before leaving his position.
Dressage Canada stated that "Gribbe was instrumental in Canada's team silver placing at the 2011 Pan American Games. This result qualified Canada to send a team to the 2012 London Olympic Games and Mr Gribbe was present with the Canadian dressage athletes at the Games."
