Tom Noone's Hanoverian licensed stallion and small tour horse Fred Astair has passed away on 26 November 2012. The dark bay stallion was 14 years old and had to be euthanized.

The stallion was unable to get up and despite all veterinary care he could not be saved.

The Hanoverian stallion (by Fabriano x Godewind x Spitzweg) was born in 1998 and licensed at the Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in 2000.  After competing his Stallion Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf, he was imported by Sharon Garner into the United States in 2002.

Garner sold the stallion to Tom Noone as a competition horse. Noone and Fred Astair were successful in 2011 and 2012 competing at PSG-Inter I level. The combination was short listed for the American team for the 2011 Pan American Games. The stallion was being prepared to make his Grand Prix debut on the 2013 Florida show circuit.

"Riding his powerful, elastic gaits, coupled with his strong spirit, was a truly exhilarating experience. I will be forever grateful to have had
him as a partner, and for the magnificent offspring he has left
behind," Tom Noone told Dressagedaily.com.

Fred Astair was never truly campaigned as a breeding stallion but sired a few offspring in the U.S., including Kate Palmquist's Fielding (by Fred Astair x Lessing) which finished 5th in the 2007 U.S. Stallion Performance Testing.
