The 5-year old Captain Bownie and the 6-year old Silbermond became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the big regional show in Freudenberg, Germany, on 21 - 23 June 2013. The L- and M-level Bundeschampionate classes were held on Saturday 22 June and a field of 24 horses gathered at the event.
The 5-year old division was won Sandra Ernst on the Westfalian bred stallion Captain Brownie (by Captain Fire x Levantos). The combination achieved 8.1 and stayed a fraction ahead of two combinations that tied in second place. Svenja Irina Meyer and the Hanoverian mare Balla Colorate (by Belissimo M x Walt Disney) scored 8.0 and this was matched by Lillian Schilling on the Westfalian mare Diba (by Damon Hill x Dream of Heidelberg I).
In the 6-year old division German Olympic eventing rider Ingrid Klimke steered the Westfalian licensing champion Silbermond (by Sir Donnerhal x Ramiro's Son) to victory with an 8.0 total. Fritz Fleischmann and the chestnut Hanoverian gelding Showdown (by Sir Donnerhall I x Rotspon) finished second with 7.8. Jessica Süss was able to position herself into third place with two horses: Contador (by Consens M x Lantaan) and Tarantino (by Toronto M x Carbid). Both mounts scored 7.6.
