Danish dressage rider and former Danish Grand Prix team member Fie Skarsoe has declared for Luxembourg, the country where she has been living since November 2006.

The 38-year old Skarsoe obtained dual citizenship in January 2015 and will be competing for Luxembourg as of this year. She runs her own business, First Choice Stables, in a section at equestrian centre Les Ecuries in Bergem (LUX).

"After so many years in Luxembourg and dating a Luxembourg man (Ken Gruber), I decided to change," Skarsoe told Eurodressage. "Also because I'm training a lot of the junior, young rider, U25 riders and and senior riders in Luxembourg. I think it's nice to try to get Luxembourg on the world dressage map. I'll try to do my very best with my 2 Grand Prix and 3 small tour horses this year."

Skarsoe, who represented Denmark at the 2005 European Championships in Hagen, admits that she won't be losing her Danish connection. She is helping her student Rikke Svane and the black Trakehner stallion Finckenstein to make it on the Danish team for the 2015 European Championships in Hagen.

"It's so good that Rikke can fight for membership on the Danish team for the Europeans," said Skarsoe. "I'm so happy to be able to train so many good students. I love being a trainer as well as a rider. I just love my horses and riders and to train my students makes my life complete."

Due to her recent nationality change, Skarsoe has been submitted to the Luxembourg Elite squad with One Night Stand (by Olivi) and is in the running for team selection for the 2015 European Championships in Aachen, Germany, in August.
