British WEG team silver medal winning horse Half Moon Delphi has been sold to the United States. U.S. entrepreneur Bob Price acquired the 13-year old British Hanoverian mare for his rider Sarah Daehnert.
Under Michael Eilberg, Half Moon Delphi represented Great Britain at the 2013 European Championships in Herning, where they won team bronze. At the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, the pair won team silver and finished 8th in the Kur to Music finals with a 79.696% score.
The grey mare, which was bred and owned by Julie Deverill, had not competed since the WEG in August 2014. After the show the mare had to recover from an injury which she most likely sustained in Caen due to the hard footing. A come back to competition was scheduled for the 2015 CDI Windsor in May but she was withdrawn. Delphi was also scratched from the national show in Somerfield two weeks later.
On Sunday 21 June 2015 Delphi relocated to Germany, where she will stay with Daehnert for a long-term training stint in Europe at Patrik Kittel's yard.
"I can not put into words how excited I am to have such a wonderful mare to campaign," Daehnert commented. "I can not wait to get to know 'Maggie' in the coming months and to begin such a surreal journey. To have the support of Bob and trainer Patrik is fantastic and I look forward to the road ahead."
Delphi has been acquired as a Rio Olympic hopeful.
