The 6-year old black mare Rita became the price highlight of the 2016 Westfalian Spring Elite Auction in Munster-Handorf, Germany, on Sunday 10 April 2016.
The black mare by Ribery Gold x Royal Angel, bred and owned by breeder's group Kuhnen, sold for 130,000 euro to a Hessian based buyer.
The second most expensive horse was Magdalena Post's 5-year old liver chestnut mare Vision (by Vitalis x Dream On), which sold for 82,000 euro to Great Britain.
Hermann Josef Schulte-Mesum's 4-year old black stallion Francis (by Feedback x Fuchsberger) achieved a knock down price of 75,000 euro and sold to Denmark, while Bernhard Schulze-Sutthoff's 4-year old dark bay stallion Riptide (by Rock Forever x Show Star) switched owners for 60,000 euro.
A collection of 25 foals was auctioned and the dark bay colt Bowler Hat (by Borsalino x Ampere) fetched the top knock down price of 26,000 euro. The dark bay jumper filly Cassiopeia (by Cornet Obolensky x Diamant de Semilly) sold for 24,000 euro.
The Westfalian auction centre also held a special first international show jumping horse auction with 8 jumpers. The best seller was the 11-year old grey mare Velvet Brown (by For Pleasure x Concerto II) for 266,000 euro. The 7-year old mare Thunder Girl D (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Numero Uno) sold for 100,000 euro.
Thirthy-two sport horses were offered for sale at this auction and they sold for an average price of 27,438 euro. The average price for a foal was 8,156 euro.
