Dutch Olympic team candidate Hans Peter Minderhoud has not been long listed for the Rio Olympics with his 2016 World Cup Finals winning horse Flirt. The Swiss warmblood gelding has sustained a minor injury.
The 15-year old Swiss warmblood gelding Flirt (de Lully) is owned by Austrian Gaston Glock and is by Florestan out of Envie de Lully (by Gauguin de Lully x Dream Dancer xx).
In March Minderhoud and the chestnut Flirt won the 2016 World Cup Finals in Gothenburg but the pair has not competed since then. They are also not listed on the official FEI Rio Olympics Long List. Minderhoud and Flirt were supposed to compete in the CDI 3* tour at the CDIO Rotterdam this weekend but withdrew before the show.
"It's all been quite a lot for him," Minderhoud told Dutch equestrian magazine Horses.nl. "Maybe he'll be fit for the Dutch Championships (14 - 17 July), but I don't know yet. Johnson was my first choice for the Olympic Games anyway, but it would have been nice to have had Flirt as a back-up."
