Two Italian youth dressage riders - Francesco Sangiorgi and Rebecca Teresa Brugnoli- have become the recipients of one of 10 training grants which the Italian Equestrian Federation (FISE) has awarded.
FISE has created these grants to "provide technical growth opportunities for young people from 19 to 25 years of age active in the Olympic disciplines."
Ten grants were made available and 8 riders have been selected to receive the grant. Two of them are in the discipline of dressage. The riders had to deliver a proposal to FISE in which they laid out their plan to develop their career and it had to include a training stint with a renowned Italian or foreign coach/rider of international experience for minimum three, consecutive weeks.
Young riders Francesco Sangiorgi and Rebecca Teresa Brugnoli have been selected alongside three show jumping riders and three eventers. Francesco is the son of Italian Grand Prix rider Pierluigi Sangiorgi. He has garnered international experience in the junior and young riders division since 2012 and represented Italy at the 2017 European YR Championships, but under a different last name, as Francesco Neri. Young rider Rebecca Brugnoli has represented Italy at the 2017 European YR Championships on First Love.
