2018 Danish Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Springbank II, the 5-year old Revolution, the 6-year old Hesselhoj's Donkey Boy, and the 7-year old Heiline's Danciera became the winners of the 2018 Danish Young Horse Championships held at Blue Hors stud in Randbol, Denmark, on 11 - 14 October 2017.

Helgstrand Dressage had no less than 15 horses qualifying for the Finals round in the four age categories. Two of them took the title, beginning with Swedish warmblood bred Springbank II in the 4-year old division. After winning the 2018 Swedish Young Horse Championships in Flyinge, Sweden, last week, rider Severo Jurado Lopez took the young stallion straight to another major Championships, this time in the horse's current home base of Denmark. The liver chestnut stallion by Skovens Rafael x De Niro, owned by Helgstrand, Tina Hennix and Vastra Hoby stuteri, scored a whopping 9.88 for the victory. The elastic and gifted mover got 10 for trot and canter, 9.7 for walk and rideability and 10 for potential. The silver medal went to Daniel Bachmann on Blue Hors' stud's Zackerey (by Zack x Sandro Hit) wit 9.46 points. The bay scored 8.8 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 9.8 for canter, 9.5 for rideability and 9.7 for potential. Andreas Helgstrand steered Bolette Wandt's Queenparks Wendy (by Sezuan x Soprano) to a bronze medal with 9.14 points. The mare got 9 for walk and trot, 9.5 for canter, 9 for rideability and 9.2 for potential.

In the 5-year old division, World Young Horse Champion Revolution (by Rocky Lee x Rouletto) also impressed the Danish judges with his massive gaits and captured the title. Danish investors Hanni Kasprzak, Soren Gronborg and Andreas Helgstrand paid 1.2 million euro at the 2015 Hanoverian stallion licensing auction to acquire the Hanoverian licensed stallion and the impressive bay now extended his Danish young horse champion's title in Randbol, this time with an 9.8 point total mark. He scored 9 for walk and 10 for trot, canter, rideability and potential. Daniel Bachmann grabbed his second silver medal, this time on Blue Hors Stud's Zampalo (by Zack x Brentano II) with 9.26 points. The chestnut stallion earned 9 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 8.8 for canter, 9.7 for rideability and 9.3 for potential. Seline Solberg Vittinghus and Atterupgaards Delorean (by Bon Bravour x Sandro Hit) scored bronze with 9.1 points. The mare got 8.8 for walk, 9.7 for trot, 9 for canter, 8.8 for rideability and 9.2 for potential.

Jan M. Christensen on Hesselhoj's Donkey Boy

Six-year old World Young Horse Champion D'Avie (by Don Juan de Hus x Londonderry) did not make the double in Denmark, but landed in silver medal place, overtaken by the 2018 World Championships' fifth placed pair, Jan Moller Christensen and Norwegian Kristin Andresen's Danish warmblood bred and licensed stallion Hesselhøj's Donkey Boy (by ERA Dancing Hit x Milan). Donkey Boy scored his third, consecutive Danish young horse champion's title and as a 6-year old with a 9.46 total score after earning 10 for walk, 9.5 for trot and canter, 8.8 for rideability and 9.5 for potential. Spanish Olympian Severo Jurado Lopez and the Hanoverian D'Avie got silver with 9.14 points after receiving 9 for walk and canter, 9.8 for trot, 8.4 for rideability and 9.5 for potential. Andreas Helgstrand streered the dark bay stallion Ferrari (by Foundation x Hotline) to bronze with 8.72 points. The former PSI auction horse Ferrari got 9.2 for trot, 7.9 for walk, 8.8 for canter, 8.7 for rideability and 9 for potential.

Carina Cassoe Kruth and Heiline's Danciera

Ten combinations competed in the 7-year old finals and amongst all the stallion power in Randbol, this time a mare took highest honour. Carina Cassoe Kruth and Ingrid and Poul Thøgersen's Heiline's Danciera (by Furstenball x De Niro) bested the field with an 82.736 total score. The black mare got 8.5 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.8 for canter, and 9.2 for rideability and potential. Cassoe Kruth also won the silver on her second ride, Red Diamant, a chestnut mare by Romanov x Dream of Heidelberg, also owned by the Thøgersens. Red Diamant scored a total of 79.665 points after earning 8.6 for walk and trot, 8.2 for canter, 8.8 for rideability and 8.5 for potential. Maria Anita Andersen and Lise Thøgersen & Kim Kristensen's Thybo's Laban (by L'Espoir x Michellino) finished with bronze on 77.241 points. The stallion got 8.5 for trot and canter, 8.8 for walk, 8 for rideability and 8.5 for potential.
