Belarusian Grand Prix rider Ala Nikanorava has been provisionally suspended for two months by the FEI after her horse Vaksayd tested positive to controlled medication at the 2018 CDI-W Moscow on 27-30 September 2018.

The controlled medication substances Oxyphenbutazone, Phenylbutazone and Dexamethasone were found in Nikanorava's 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding Vaksayd (by Kobrin x Vozgon).

Vaksayd made his international debut under Belarusian Iriyna Halbutsova in April 2015 and competed at small tour level for two years. He returned to the CDI ring briefly in April 2018 at junior level under Anastasiya Yankouskaya, because Ala Nikanorava began competing him at Grand Prix level two months later.

Nikanorava has competed Vaksayd at the World Cup qualifiers in Nizhniy Novgorod and Moscow. The horse is owned by the Mogilev Regional Olympic Equestrian Centre.

Controlled medication is allowed for horses, but the products have to be cleared from the horse's system by the time of the competition.

The FEI initiated the suspension on 30 October 2018. Nikanorava can appeal her suspension.
