The KWPN bred Vaderland has been re-licensed, pending a negative doping test, at a special late licensing for the Westfalian society in Munster-Handorf on 28 February 2019.
The KWPN bred Vaderland (by Vitalis x Krack C x Contango) was one of three (!!) reserve champions of the 2018 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in November.
The bay colt is bred by the late Piet Crum and was listed as owned by Eugene Reesink during the licensing, but Dutch investor Jan-Pieter Dalsem is behind the horse. He sold at auction for 370,000 euro, to a mystery client, apparently from Belgium, but to this date the identity of the buyer was never revealed and a no-sale is the most likely scenario. A few days after the licensing, stallion owner Matthieu Beckmann announced that he would be standing Vaderland at stud.
At the beginning of January 2019, the Westfalian society announced that Vaderland lost his licensed status because the horse had tested positive to the sedative acepromazine.
He has now been re-presented at the late licensing and accepted if his new doping test proves negative.
Westfalian breeding director Wilken Treu will have a special meeting with the German Equestrian Federation on a future doping program for stallion licensings. The question is if all stallions will be doping tested at licensings.
"We still have to decide on that," Treu told St. Georg. "Our proposal is the more the better."
