Gestüt Tannenhof's  Holsteiner breeding stallion Conteur passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning 7 May 2019.

Bred by Claus Jürgen Gosch, Conteur was by Contender out of Ofarim (by Rasputin x Tin Rod xx x Ramzes AA).

He was licensed at the 2000 Holsteiner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster and sold to Klaus Plönzke of Gestut Tannenhof afterwards. He was approved for all major German studbooks.

Conteur did his 70-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 2001 and scored a dressage index of 149.00 points but for show jumping he got stuck at 91.00 points. With an overall of 131.72 he finished second out of 38 participating stallions.

Conteur only had a very short career in sport due to a career ending injury. He made his show debut under Oliver Luze in the riding horse tests at the local show in Kayhude in July 2001 and went on to finish fifth at the 2001 Bundeschampionate. Under Eckhart Wrede he was fourth at the 2002 Bundeschampionate but did not compete at the 2003 edition. Ole Köhler rode him in one L-level class in 2003.

In 2005 Anja Plönzke began competing Conteur at small tour level and presented him at CDI's in Bremen and Munich. Their last show was the CDI Munich in May 2006.

As a breeding stallion Conteur sired 14 licensed sons of which 10 are in the Main Studbook, including Emma Hindle's two stallions Curator and the early deceased Con Amore (sire of Connaisseur). No less than 47 of his daughters became state premium mare. In Germany 25 of his offspring has competed at S-level in dressage, 28 of them at S-level in show jumping.

Conteur's most famous offspring in dressage is the Holsteiner mare Annabelle, competed at international Grand Prix level by Helen Langehanenberg, Cybelle Ila, competed by French Laetitia Isselin at international medium tour level, and the now retired Swiss junior/young rider's horse Conteur's Charmeur (Sharon Höltschi). Probably one of the best Conteur offspring ever produced was the smashing Oldenburg grey gelding Cassio, which Marina Mattsson successfully rode at the European Young Riders Championships and trained up to Grand Prix level. Cassio sold to Agnete Kirk Thinggaard but completely disappeared from the scene.
