U.S. Grand Prix rider Janne Rumbough had to say goodbye to her international Grand Prix stallion Armas Zumbel.
The horse was put to sleep on 27 December 2019 as he suffered from severe melanoma.
"My beautiful Armas Zumbel and “soulmate “ passed on the rainbow yesterday, he had bad melanomas," his owner Rumbough took to Facebook. "I was the most fortunate person to have had him in my life , Thank You Zum Zum."
Armas Zumbel was a 16-year old PRE stallion by Escarzo out of Delicia VI (by Relampago II).
He was first competed internationally in Spain by Cristina Duran Vicens in 2012 at small tour level. She made her debut at the CDI in Toledo. In 2013 she rode him in Vejer de la Frontera and Toledo.
Rumbough, who was the first American to import PRE Andalusians into the U.S.A., acquired Armas Zumbel in 2014 and made her international show debut at small tour level in 2017 in Wellington.
From 2017 till 2018 Rumbough rode him in the small and big tour Amateur classes to help promote the amateur division at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington.
They rode on CDI in 2019 in March and won the Amateur Grand Prix with 64.065%.
