The Swedish Equestrian Federation has announced that three horses have been pre-selected to represent Sweden at the 2020 World Young Horse Championships in Verden on 9 - 13 December 2020.
Based on their winning performance at the 2020 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships in Flyinge last weekend, selector Bo Jena and Jan-Ove Olsson decided to give a definite nomination and entry ticket to the 5, 6 and 7-year old champion.
This means that these horses are certain of participating in Verden:
- 5-year old Swedish warmblood stallion Mr Grey VH (by Grey Flanell x Dalwhinnie) - Breeder and Owner: Vastra Hoby - Rider: Jessica Lynn Thomas
- 6-year old Swedish warmblood stallion Springbank II (by Skovens Rafael x De Niro) - Breeder and Owner: Tina Hennix/Vastra Hoby/Helgstrand - Rider: Betina Jaeger
- 7-year old Swedish warmblood stallion Shizeido GJ (by Sezuan x Danzas) - Breeder: Gustaf Johansson, Owner and rider: Madelene Engelke
The Swedish Warmblood society will nominate 24 horses in total for Verden, but only 12 are allowed to go (4 per age division) based on the size of the studbook.
The selectors will hold "observation trials" in Flyinge and Stromsholm before deciding on the other 8 horses that will get to go to Verden. The nominative entries will be sent to the FEI on 26 October, the definite entries the latest on 16 November 2020.
