The CDI Sydney, the biggest international dressage competition in Australia, will return to the calendar in 2021 but as a national competition on 28 April- 1 May.

"With international travel restrictions, border closures and crowd limitations likely to be still with us for the early part of 2021, the Sydney CDI Organising Committee has decided the event will still go ahead but in a slightly different format, as we adapt to the challenging COVID times," said organizer Toni Venhaus.

The organizers call it "Sydney CD-Lite".

"Current FEI requirements for the conduct of CDI events, coupled with the restrictions outlined above, mean it will not be possible to include "international" (CDI) competitions this year," Venhaus explained. "But we are still offering a comprehensive programme featuring all FEI competitions from Prix St Georges to Grand Prix level, including equivalent CDI-U25, CDI-Y, CDI-J & CDI-P, conducted as CDN (national competitions) instead. The NSW Young Horse Championships and always popular EA Advanced competitions will also be included."

The event will take place as usual at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, the venue that hosted the 2000 equestrian Olympics. For the 2021 CDN over $30,000 in prize money plus prizes and trophy rugs will be offered.
