Five months after announcing the retirement of her Grand Prix horse Gorklintgaards Dublet, U.S. team rider and medal winner Kasey Perry-Glass introduced a new rising talent to the competition arena: Hutopia van Bergsham.
Hutopia is an 8-year old Dutch warmblood mare by Chagall D&R out of Tutopia (by Lord Sinclair x Le Mexico). She is bred by M. Eigenraam in Garderen, The Netherlands.
The mare competed at the 2015 KWPN Mare Championship in Ermelo and received ster status.
Danish - French
In 2016, Hutopia was acquired by the French based Danish investor Bolette Wandt, who collaborates with Andreas Helgstrand and runs a broodmare at her caste Chateau de Fontaine in France.
The bay was twice competed at a national show in Denmark by Helgstrand's team rider Anne-Marie Hosbond in August and September of 2016. The pair placed 26th (83.4 points) in the semi-finals for the 2016 Danish Young Horse Championships.
Wandt bred four ET foals out of her in 2017 (by Don Deluxe, Revolution and Vincent Maranello).
Sold to the U.S.A.
Last weekend, Perry competed Hutopia van Bergsham in the 2020 WCD Global Holiday Challenge national show, held at the Global Dressage Stadium in Wellington, FL.
On Saturday 5 December the pair competed in a Second Level test 2 and scored 73.293%, on Sunday they rode in Second Level Test 3 and earned 71.190%. The classes were judged by a single judge (Warren and Benoit).
Hutopia is Perry's second horse that she has been competing after shifting her focus slowly away from top ride Gorklintgaards Dublet. This year she competed Mistico TM (by Donnerball x Weltmeyer) in the international small tour in Wellington and is preparing him for a Grand prix debut. Hutopia is her second iron in the fire.
