Broadmoar Franello was named the champion of the 2021 Austrian Warmblood stallion licensing in Stadl Paura, Austria, on 6 - 7 February 2021.

A record amount of 49 stallions was presented for licensing: 45 warmblood horses and 4 ponies. The committee, consisting of Leopold Erasimus, Peter Zechner, Johann Wieser, Georg Brötzner and Wilhelms Popatnig,  accepted 24 of them.

Broadmoar Franello

Twenty dressage bred colts were presented and 8 were licensed. Two were named premium stallion.

Broadmoar Franella was named champion of the licensing.  Sired by Foundation and out of Winona World Princess (by Dormello x Cordeur), he is bred by brood farm Broadmoar in Oisnitz, Austria, and sold to Austrian dressage rider Nicola Ahorner already before the licensing.

"He is a stallion with a lot of expression, masculinity and has a ground-covering, energetic way of moving," said licensing committee member Leopold Erasimus. "His trot has self carriage, uphill tendency and good back usage. Also in the jumping in freedom phase he presented himself beautiful with a lot of overview over the jumps."

Geyer's Fort Knox
The reserve champion is Geyer's For Knox, a 2018 born Austrian warmblood stallion by For Dance out of Aniali (by Dimaggio x Florencio) bred at Gestut Geyer in Heilingenkreuz, Austria.

"He's still in development but he is an incredibly handsome, charming son by For Dance, with a lot of nobility and expression. He was correct on hard surface and there is much straightness in him in walk and trot," said Erasimus. "Overall he's a big moving stallion, who is still a bit youthful. With age he'll increase in frame and size. In any case he is above average in his potential."

The approved colts now have to do a performance test in order to be fully licensed for breeding.
