Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley has acquired Ingo Pape's Bundeschampion mare Sommernacht.
Sommernacht is a 2015 born Oldenburg mare by Rocco Granata out of Solo (by San Remo x Florestan x Rosenkavalier). She is bred and was owned by Ingo Pape.
Show Debut at Five
The mare only began competing as a 5-year old in 2020. The mare was in the field as a 3 and 4-year old and only started under saddle early 2020.
Under Pape's assistant rider Greta Heemsoth she made her debut in May 2020 in an A-level dressage horse test in Scharnebeck and qualified for the Bundeschampionate over the summer.
Every single competition Heemsoth and Sommernacht were entered in, they won: Scharnebeck, Okel, Hamburg, and Elmlohe.
At the 2020 Bundeschampionate they came, saw and conquered, beating title favourites and licensed stallions So Unique and Gaitano. She won the qualifier with 8.8 and the finals with 8.7 points.
In the finals Sommernacht earned 8.5 for trot, walk and canter, and 9 for submission and general impression. They finished on a winning 8.7
The bay mare was selected to represent Germany at the 2020 World Young Horse Championships in Verden in December, but the event was cancelled due to covid-19.
Oatley Mother and Daughter
Ingo Pape has now sold his mare to Kristy Oatley.
"In a professional horse business it is normal that you part ways with your horses. You don't always do that with a good feeling except in this case, " said breeder and owner Ingo Pape. "We're very happy that this talented horse goes into the hands of Olympian Kristy Oatley and her highly talented daughter Rose, who already is the German pony champion and European pony team gold medalist."
