Hof Borgmann's Florence, one of Westfalia's most successful broodmares, has passed away. She was 27 years old.

Florence was born in 1994 and bred by Norbert Borgmann. She was by Ferragamo out of Florabelle (by Florestan x Don Juan x Dilletant).

As a yearling she broke her pelvis but recovered. While a career in sport was no longer possible, she became an acclaimed broodmare.

Six Licensed Sons

Florence became one of the most successful broodmares in the past two decades, having produced no less than 6 licensed sons.

They are Discover (by Don Frederic - S-level under Benjamin Werndl), Ehrendorf (by Ehrentusch - international Grand Prix with Alizee Froment), Eichendorff (by Ehrentusch - international Grand Prix under Victoria Max-Theurer), Estobar (by Ehrentusch - national Grand Prix under Ivan Nieto), Moliere (by Munchhausen - national PSG under Victoria Max-Theurer), and Triple Crown (by Triple X).

Ten of her offspring are registered for sport in Germany and four of them have reached S-level. Her other sport offspring are Espalion (by Ehrentusch), Marquis Monet (by Munchhausen) and Monty (by Munchhausen).

One Daughter

Florencewas a real colt producer and only delivered one daughter in her career, Estefania (by Ehrentusch). This daughter produced the licensed stallion Aringer (by AC-DC).

Stephan Borgmann announced the news of Florence's passing on Facebook.

"She had a one of a kind personality and stamped out breeding programme like no other horse," said Borgmann. "All out foals of the crop this year have Florence in their pedigree. She will never be forgotten."
