The Belgian Equestrian Federation (KBRSF) has named the team that will represent Belgium at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In 2019 Belgium obtained an individual starting place for the 2020 Tokyo Games and this spot was allocated to Laurence Roos.
On 21 June 2021 Ireland released its team spot and these team places were passed on to Luxembourg. The small grand duchy only had two riders qualified and couldn't assemble a team, so the spot went to Belgium.
For Belgium this is a historic feat as the country has only been once represented by a team in the Olympics, almost one hundred years ago in 1928 in Amsterdam.
The KBRSF has now nominated the following riders on the team:
- Domien Michiels - Intermezzo van het Meerdaalhof
- Larissa Pauluis - Flambeau
- Laurence Roos - Fil Rouge
The first reserve and travelling along to Tokyo is Alexa Fairchild (Dabanos D’O4).
Thibault Vandenberghe and Santiago Song will join the team in quarantine in Aachen until the departure to Japan on 14 July as a non-travelling reserve.
