French Grand Prix rider Stéphanie Brieussel has been systematically adding famous young dressage horses to her string in order to optimalize her chances for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Dressprod reported that sponsor Dominique Degueldre has now purchased a third horse at Helgstrand Dressage, Devonport.
Degueldre, who is a long time friend of the Brieussel family and who has competed Paradino up to small tour level in France, purchased licensed stallion Quaterhit and WCYH finalist Don Vito de Hus before. Now the small tour level competed and Grand Prix level trained Devonport has joined the ranks in France.
Bundeschampion
Devonport is an 8-year old Hanoverian stallion by Dancier out of Ratina (by Ravallo). He is bred by Christine Miesner.
He was licensed for breeding and the high scorer at 2017 Stallion Sport Test in Verden.
Under Rieke Schnieder, Devonport won bronze at the 2017 Hanoverian Young Horse Championships and gold at the 2017 Bundeschampionate.
A year later he was selected to represent Germany at the 2018 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where they finished 11th in the 5-year old finals in Ermelo. Two weeks the event the stallion had already sold to Helgstrand and Stutteri EVO.
Denmark - Sweden
In the spring of 2019 Devonport sold to Anna Kasprzak as a Grand Prix hopeful but the pair did not make a match.
The black stallion was sent back to Helgstrand Dressage in 2020 where Swedish assistant rider Jeanna Hogberg took on the ride.
The new duo made its international show debut at small tour level at the CDI Opglabbeek in Belgium, where they won all three tests with scores between 70 - 78%.
France
Devonport has now been sold to Degueldre as a Paris 2024 hopeful for Brieussel.
Stéphanie's number one Grand Prix horse in the barn, the now 16-year old KWPN gelding Amorak (by Special D x Inspekteur), took her to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Three years later they were back on the team for the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam.
Brieussel made her CDI debut aboard Degueldre's 7-year old Quaterhit at the 2021 CDI Deauville, where she also premiered the 9-year old Selle Français Chopin du Joffrois (by Soliman x Vraitot) in the small tour.
