With less than one week to go, the Danish team for the 2021 European Under 25 Championships underwent a change. Sandra Aagaard Hyrm has been replaced by the first reserve.

The 2021 European Under 25 Championships will take place at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, on 6 - 12 September 2021.

Team trainer Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein held a bootcamp at Agnete Kirk Thinggaard's yard Julianelyst on 30 and 31 August as final preparation for Hagen.

The Danish staff decided to replace Sandra Aagaard Hyrm and the 16-year old DWB gelding Heslegaards Rismon (by Rubin x Louis) with the first reserve, Katrine With Petersen and the 8-year old Danish bred Hjort's Rhapsody in Blue (by Don Romantic x Rosario).

The Danish equestrian federation explained that this last minute change was made not because of fitness issue with Rismon, but only because the staff believes the reserve pair has improved and will make a more competitive combination on the team in the race for medals.

"When selecting for competitions and championships, the choice depends on the form of the individual combinations at the given time. But the form is a snapshot that can change towards a championship or event," team captain Anne-Mette Binder explained. "Based on the last days bootcamp, it has been decided that Katrine and Hjort's Rhapsody in Blue will join the U25 group instead of Sandra and Heslegaards Rismon. The bootcamp on Monday and Tuesday left as fresh and current an assessment of all participating pairs and this means that the replacement is objectively made to send the strongest possible team to Hagen."
