Former Danish team rider Anna Zibrandtsen said goodbye to her career starting Grand Prix horse Gørklintgårds Domello today. The horse was 18 years old.
Gørklintgårds Domello was a 2003 born Danish warmblood gelding by Diamond Hit out of Libelle Aalykke (by Lavallo / Raimondo). He was bred by Jørgen Ravn.
Zibrandtsen began her international dressage career as a junior rider in 2011 aboard two horses, her team horse Capriciella and Gørklintgårds Domello, with whom she won the 2011 Ecco Cup finals. They were fourth at the 2011 Danish Junior Riders Championships.
She made her international debut on the gelding at the 2012 CDI Roosendaal, where she finished second twice and won the junior consolation finals.
In 2013 she made her Inter II debut at national level in May in denmark, but three weeks later she rode him in the young riders' tour at the CDI Hagen. Another two months later Zibrandtsen did her first Grand Prix test on him, first at the national show in Frederisvaerk in Denmark and two weeks later at the 2013 European Dressage Championships in Herning, where an international U25 tour was held. They were 13th in both rounds.
Herning was also the horse's last competition at age 10.
Domello passed away today 23 September 2021.
"Today is a very sad day as my first ever Grand Prix horse, Gørklintgårds Domello has passed away," said Anna. "Together we had an amazing time, developing through the junior and young rider classes. The fact that none of us had ever done it before made our travel even more special."
