Dr. Wolfgang Kluge Passed Away

Westfalian horse breeder and breed show inspector Dr. Wolfgang Kluge passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 30 December 2021. He was 67 years old.

Dr. Kluge was a veterinarian by profession based in Hille, Germany. 

He bred numerous Hanoverian and Westfalian jumping and dressage horses, but his most successful breeding products were the Hanoverian licensed stallions Leonardo da Vinci (by Lauries Crusador xx x Davignon) and Walton (by Weltmeyer x Don Juan).

He was mainly active in Westfalian breed area and chaired the Herford and Minden-Mübbecke breeding branch.

He took on several functions within the Westfalian breed society, including chair of the breeding selection committee for riding horse and a breed judge for mares and foals. He was also member of the stallion licensing committee group.

He was most often seen as an inspector at foal and mare shows and trained aspiring breeding judges. He was highly esteemed for his expert knowledge of conformation.
