The Dutch junior rider combination Micky Schelstraete and Cachet L has parted ways at the end of 2021. The duo competed at international junior level for one year.
Cachet L is a 15-year old Dutch warmblood stallion by Jazz out of Jirondine (by Ferro x Nimmerdor). He is bred by Jan Lamers and was originally named Cironn L.
Licensed Stallion
Cachet L was licensed at the 2010 KWPN Stallion Licensing and scored 81.5 points in the 2010 KWPN Autumn Stallion Performance Testing.
In December 2010 he sold to Grand Prix rider Mirelle Witlox-van Kemenade, who mainly focused him on sport. He was fifth in the 2011 Pavo Cup semi finals and third in the 2012 Pavo Cup Finals. The pair represented The Netherlands at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in 2012 and 2013. As a 5-year old he finished 8th in the Finals, as a 6-year old he was 9th in the Finals. This was the horse's only international show experience up to that point.
Witlox-van Kemenade quit competing internationally in the spring of 2017 and sold Cachet L in the summer of 2020 to stallion owners Joop van Uytert, Marthijs Brouwer and Tim Coomans for breeding.
Micky Schelstraete
In December 2020 the ride on the tall bay stallion was allocated to Micky Schelstraete, whose became her number one ride after Grand Charmeur sold to Florida in February 2021.
Schelstraete, who was a member of the Dutch pony team, tried to qualify on the junior team with Cachet L and competed him at CDI's in Sint-Truiden and Exloo but did not get selected. At their last CDI together in Zandhoven in August 2021 she won the individual test and Kur.
They did not compete in the 2021 Dutch Junior Riders Championships in June, but won silver at the Dutch "Hippiade" at ZZ-Licht (M-level) in August 2021. They made the transition to Young Riders level at a national show later on.
Back to the Owners
Horses.nl reported that Cachet L will return to his owners and stand at stud.
Schelstraete continues at FEI level with Gregwaard, who was the 2011 KWPN Foal Champion.
