The 2022 Danish warmblood stallion licensing came to a conclusion on Sunday 13 March 2022 with seven 3-year old colts being named "premium" stallion. Two of them were show jumping bred, five dressage bred.

A collection of 16 show jumpers and 34 dressage bred 3-year olds was presented this year in Herning for licensing.

The licensing committee for dressge included Johnny Sørensen, Claus Hansen and Bjarne Nielsen, assisted by secretary Laura Juul and breeding consultant Karina Christiansen.

The committee approved 18 dressage stallions: only 6 of them are Danish bred, one is KWPN bred and the majority, 11, are German bred and bought.  Five dressage colts were premium.

Of the 18 licensed colts, Helgstrand (co)-owns 12 of them, including all five premium colts; a clear sign of the monopoly the station has on the Danish breeding market.

Another observation worth mentioning is that hardly any of the approved dressage colts have "original" Danish blood in the first two generations. Most are sired by Dutch or German stallions. The actual Danish warmblood bred ones also have their Danish "connection" generations far back; a trend also visible in Swedish warmblood breeding, where they old Swedish lines are gradually being lost.

The licensed 3-year old stallions are:

All 18 colts now have to do either the mandatory 10-day observation test in Denmark or an equivalant 2-day suitability test in Germany to be allowed to breed for one year. Next year, the committee will review the colts again, aged 4, for life approval.

Four stallions are WFFS positive: Åtoftens Jovani, Joshua, Value, and Åtoftens Springtime. Value also has an OCD remark.

The Oldenburg licensing champion Incredible (by Indian Rock x K2) was also presented for licensing but had to be withdrawn when he became unlevel on the lunge line.
