Easter weekend in Belgium began with splendid weather on Good Friday - 15 April 2022. The annual Easter international dressage competition in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, saw two Danish riders win the first two morning classes blessed with wonderful spring weather.
The day started out crisp cold and foggy, yet a blue sky soon appeared and pushed temperatures in the sun towards 18 ° c. On the second day of competition at the CDI Sint-Truiden, two handfuls of Under 25 and small tour riders rode down the centerline at Stable Gravenhof, which is located in the apple orchards in the Belgian province of Limburg.
U25: Rohmann
Danish Karoline Rohmann has waved goodbye to the young riders' division in 2021 and as a young professional rider made the definite transition to Under 25 Grand Prix and senior classes. She brought two horses to Sint-Truiden, small tour horse Aagaardens Lianne (by Krack C x Cape Town S) and her top ride Jakas Don Louvre, a 13-year old Danish warmblood by Don Schufro x Lauries Crusador xx.
Aboard the American owned Jakas Don Louvre she won the Under 25 Intermediaire II class with 71.923% and placed first with four of the five judges. The class was judged by Lars Andersson (SWE), Olivier Smeets (BEL) , Alban Tissot (FRA), Maarten Van Der Heijden (NED), and Mary Robins (NZL).
German Kristin Biermann and the 13-year old Oldenburg gelding Queensland (by Quaterback x Davignon II) showed lovely passage work and half passes and ended up on Rohmann's heels as second place getter with 70.641%. Biermann also had a small tour horse in Sint-Truiden, the gorgeous My Dream (by Millennium x Ituango xx). With Queensland she competed in two internationals in 2021, Grote-Brogel and Exloo and won three out of five times.
Denmark's newcomer Laura Kristine Thorup piloted the 12-year old Oldenburg stallion Blue Hors Veneziano (by Vivaldi x Donnerhall) to a third place with 68.128%. The stallion showed good elasticity, bounce and power throughout the test, but the bridle contact needs to lighten up to go over the seventy marker. The handsome chestnut stallion was the 2018 Louisdor Cup winner under Daniel Bachmann, before Agnete Kirk Thinggaard briefly took over the rider. Now Blue Hors team rider Thorup gets her chance to gain mileage and experience on this stallion.
Prix St Georges: Ejlersgaard
In the Prix St Georges, Denmark's Anette Ejlersgaard scored the trophy aboard the 9-year old Danish warmblood gelding Baunehojens Carpaccio (by Charmeur x White Talisman). They won the class with 70.618% Ejlersgaard bought the dark bay gelding as a youngster and scored silver with him at the 2019 Danish Young Horse Championships after which her coach Dennis Fisker produced the horse to small tour level.
Runner-up was Belgian Dominique Mohimont on the gorgeous 15-year old Oldenburg gelding Toureine du Meugon (by Donnerball x Wolkentanz II) whose lightfootedness impressed the panel of judges (Wysocki, Pawlowska, Barone, Judet, Wolfs) and produced 70.088% on the board.
Biermann and My Dream were third with 69.647%, while Rohmann and Aagaardens Lianne were fourth with 68.912%.
