The Swedish owned KWPN licensed stallion Kane has been gelded to optimize his future as a competition horse.
Kane is a 7-year old Dutch warmblood by Dream Boy out of Toscana (by Krack C x Oracle). He is bred by Martien and Frans Burgers.
Kane was presented at the 2018 KWPN Stallion Licensing but did not get accepted. He sold to y Antonia Ax:son Johnson of Lovsta Stuteri and moved to Sweden, where he was licensed and winner of the 2019 Swedish Warmblood Stallion Testing.
Under Lovsta Stuteri's assistant rider Caroline Darcourt, Kane was the highest scoring stallion in the Breeders' Trophy for 4-year olds at the 2019 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships.
He has only been lightly competed by Darcourt in preparation of his FEI level career and while standing at stud. Lovsta Stuteri confirmed that the stallion has now been gelded.
"The decision to castrate Kane was not entirely easy, but he has matured this season. Kane is a fantastic horse with a lot of talent, but as a stallion he has sometimes had difficulty focusing," said Darcourt. Head trainer and rider Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven added that, "we really believe that Kane has a bright future in the sport, but we need to give him the best possible conditions to develop towards his full potential. In Kane's case, we believe it is by allowing him to continue life as a gelding. He will feel better and have peace of mind at work, he avoids the stress he has felt as a stallion."
