Brazilian Paralympic medallist Rodolpho Riskalla has a new horse as a hopeful for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris: Irish Coffee BH.
Irish Coffee BH is a 9-year old Dutch warmblood gelding by Blue Hors Romanov out of Andy (by Jazz x Ulft). He is bred by Jan Vink in The Netherlands.
Slovakia and Spain
Owned by Hungarian entrepreneur Arie Yom-Tov, the bay gelding was first competed internationally by Slovakian Peter Edmar in the 7-year old young horse classes at the 2020 CDI Mariakalnok.
The horse was offered for sale in the 2019 Excellent Dressage Sales auction, but ended up being retained and stayed at Yom-Tov's training and sales stable Sport Pro Horses in The Netherlands
A year later the Spanish Valeria Fernandez Palomino, who rode at Sport Pro Horses, presented Irish Coffee BH at small tour level at the 2021 CDI Pilisjaszfalu.
Brazil
Irish Coffee BH is now the Paralympic hopeful for Rodolpho Riskalla, who retired his medal horse Don Henrico from competition sport after the World Championships in Herning.
"Irish Coffee was bought through the Brazilian Paralympic Committee as my Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 hopeful," Rodolpho told Eurodressage. "I'm very lucky to have found this boy at Sport Pro Horses and to have had the help from the Yom Tov family to make it possible. He believes in the project and wanted to help me."
“We are more than happy that we were able to connect these two talents to each other,” said Yom-Tov. “It means the world to us to see this amazing combination together. We can say with confidence that Irish has found his home and we will hear a lot of him and his career in the future.”
