The Global Dressage Festival has been taking place at the same venue since 2012 and very little has changed to the hospitality and show conditions over the year. GEG has now taken over the show dates and lease of the land to stage the 2023 edition of GDF

Wellington International, the show management company of Helgstrand's parent company Global Equestrian Group, has reached an agreement with Wellington Equestrian Partners to take over the rights to host the Global Dressage Festival in 2023.

While the organisation of the 2023 show jumping leg is in full swing, dressage riders were still waiting to hear back on the show status of the 2023 Global Dressage Festival .

Wellington International (WI) has now reached an agreement with Mark Bellissimo to buy the show dates and lease the land to host the Festival.

"An agreement to lease the Equestrian Village venue was signed Thursday by Mark Bellissimo," Dressage-News reported.

The press release that followed the signing read, "despite a short timeline, will work diligently to provide an enhanced experience for all participants, guests, and fans."

WI president Michael Stone added, "We know that dressage competitors and spectators have been eagerly awaiting news of the 2023 GDF season, and we are happy to report that our team will once again be working hard to put forth an exciting, memorable, and safe event.

Bellissimo stated, "Wellington Equestrian Partners has every confidence in the team at Wellington International to effectively operate the 2023 GDF," mentioning that both organizations will be working together "to discuss and plan for long-term enhancements."

The 2023 GDF will operate from 11 January  through 31 March 2023. The horse show will feature eight weeks of international dressage competition and two weeks of international para dressage competition. Like last year, the 5* competition classes will be held on the show jumping grounds.

The seven CDI's in Wellington in the winter-spring of 2023 are:

  • Jan. 11-15 – CDI-W World Cup, CDI4*
