Gut Neuenhof's licensed stallion Goldberg, who has been trained and competed up to small tour level by Hubertus Schmidt, has moved in training with a German pony team rider as her future junior horse.
Goldberg is an 11-year old KWPN bred stallion by Amazing Star out of Whoopy Goldberg (by San Remo x Jazz x Akteur). He is bred by V. Te Poele in The Netherlands.
German Licensed
The dark bay Goldberg was bought by Axel and Sandro Schürner of Gut Neuenhof for 70,000 euro at the 2011 KWPN Foal Auction in Dronten.
He became the third ranked premium stallion at the 2013 Westfalian Stallion Licensing and did his 30-day stallion performance testing in Neustadt/Dosse in 2014 scoring 8.52 points. He got 8.66 for dressage and 8.30 for show jumping.
He got his first training from Danica Duen, who competed three times. In January 2016 he did an A-level test at the regional show in Ankum.
Hubertus Schmidt
In the spring of 2016 Goldberg moved into training with Hubertus Schmidt.
Schmidt showed him once at L-level in June 2016 but then the stallion sustained an injury and was off for a while.
Goldberg recovered and returned to the arena in November 2018 at S* level. In 2019 he competed on the Nurnberger Burgpokal circuit/
Anna Schölermann
The stallion, who started to make his mark as a breeding stallion with 6 state premium daughters, 10 licensed sons of which 4 are in Studbook I, and 152 offspring registered for sport in Germany, did not compete for two years.
He returned to the arena in 2022 under Schmidt's assistant rider, German young rider Anna Schölermann, who competed him at national level.
The new duo made its debut in April 2022 at a local show in Holte, rode four further regional shows and concluded their partnership at the 2022 German Young Riders Championships in Verden, where they were 24th.
Sophie Duen
For the 2023 show season, Goldberg has been allocated to German pony squad listed rider Sophie Duen.
Duen has been competing ponies Del Estero (by Dance Star x Marsvogel) and Cosmo Royale (by Cosmopolitan x Casino Royale) at international pony level this year, but has reached the age limit and will need to move onto horses in 2023 for FEI level competition.
Duen will now make the transition to junior level with Goldberg.
"I‘m very thankful that the Schürner family decided to choose me for Goldberg. He stays at our stable and will be available for the breeding season for the Gestüt Gut Neuenhof," Sophie told Eurodressage. "It‘s just a pleasure for me to ride Goldberg as we know him very well. My mother has ridden him very successful as a young horse until he was 5 years old. We all are very happy to have him back at home."
Sophie will now have two horses to ride for next season, Goldberg and her own horse, Sweet Hero (by Sir Donnerhall l x Bonheur).
