German professional dressage rider Matthias Bouten has joined Astrid Neumayer's team of riders by assisting her in the training of her stallions and sport horses.

Austrian Grand Prix rider Astrid Neumayer owns the stallion station Pramwaldhof, but has her horses spread out over several riders.

Dorothee Schneider is training and competing the Nurnberger Burgpokal finalist Quaterline for Neumayer, and now Matthias Bouten has also received a set of horses in training, including the 5-year old DSP stallion Fineline (by Floriscount x San Amour) and the 8-year old KWPN stallion Knock Out (by Expression x Ferro).

Bouten first came into the spotlight as an assistant rider for Isabell Werth. He then left her for Freiberger Hof after which he went independent at Stable Giesen, where got some of Austrian Marianne Jerich's horses in training. That collaboration ended in 2016, but Bouten picked up horses from Ferienhof Stucker at that time.

In May 2018 he became the head rider at Meggle Stable and received a string to ride that opened doors to international competition. In May 2022 he resigned and went independent again, but now at stable Bell in Grafing near Munich.

Bouten is now commuting twice a week between Grafing and Pramwaldhof in Austria to ride the horses spread out over four days.
