Helen Langehanenberg has announced that her number one Grand Prix horse in the barn, Annabelle, will be retired from sport. A new career as a broodmare awaits her at her breeder and owner, Gunther Fielmann.

Annabelle is a 15-year old Holsteiner mare by Conteur out of Mira G (by Linaro x Reichsgraf x Rasputin).

The Beginnings

The bay mare began her sport career in Germany in 2011 at age 4. She was first shown by Anna Bergen, followed by Mareike-Christin Lux and Karin Winter-Polac.

Polac competed her in the riding horse tests through the summer of 2012. The mare then moved to Helen Langehanenberg's stable.

In April 2014 Helen's former husband Sebastian Heinze competed Annabelle first at M-level in Neuenkirchen. A month later Helen took over the show ride.

International Career

The duo made its international show debut in April 2016 at small tour level in Hagen. Two years later they moved up to international Grand Prix level with a first showing in Herning.

Between 2019 and 2022 the pair competed at high profile shows such as Salzburg, frankfurt, Aarhus, Hagen, Munich, and Kronberg.

Reserve pair in Tokyo
In 2021 Annabelle had her career highlight year and was named German Olympic team reserve and travelled to Tokyo, but did not compete there. They got their chance to represent Germany at the 2021 European Dressage Championships in Hagen six weeks later, where they won team gold and placed 14th in the Kur to Music finals. At the 2021 German Championships they were fifth.

In 2022 they were 6th in the World Cup Finals in Leipzig. At the 2022 German Championships they were seventh and missed out on German team selection for the World Championships in Herning. Although they competed for a spot to the 2023 World Cup Finals this year with starts in Vilhelmsborg, Madrid, London, Amsterdam and Gothenburg, the pair did not make it to Omaha.

Broodmare

Today, Helen Langehanenberg announced the retirement of Annabelle as a sport horse.

Bye Bye Annabelle
"After almost ten years, a wonderful chapter ends: "Mausi" returns to her breeder and owner Günther Fielmann to become a broodmare at his Schierensee estate," said Helen. "She is now 15 years old and the Fielmann family wants Annabelle to really carry her foals herself. That's why it's time now ... Of course I'm happy that she's going into breeding in top condition. But letting go is not so easy."

Helen continued, "thank you, dear Mausi! Have a good time and tell your hopefully many foals about our adventures together ... I will miss you very, very, very much!"
