Following the 2023 Spanish Dressage Championships, the Spanish Equestrian Federation has announced the team that will represent Spain at the 2023 CDIO Aachen on 28 June - 2 July 2023.

Aachen is the second Spanish team selection trial for the 2023 European Championships in Riesenbeck in September and the team selected for Aachen is often the team that will also go to the championship later on.

The team for the CDIO 5* tour in Aachen includes

  • Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on Elegance
  • Jose Daniel Martin Dockx on Malagueno
  • Juan Antonio Jimenez on Euclides MOR
  • Jose Antonio Garcia Mena on Sorento

Spanish team trainer Francis Verbeek and the technical staff of the RFHE picked Sorento and not Divina Royal for Aachen although the latter horse was higher placed at the Nationals.

Furthermore, the 2022 World Championship team pair Alejandro Sanchez del Barco and Quincallo de Indalo are also absent from the Aachen selection after missing the Nationals due to an injury. This forbodes that the PRE will not be up for selection this year.

Spain will also have Jimenez on Quartar in the 4* tour and Jose Mena on Jumeaux in the small tour.
