The Austrian equestrian federation and Austrian warmblood society have made their selection in horses for the 2023 World Championships for young dressage horses in Ermelo on 3 - 6 August 2023.

The Austrians held two selection trials, a first at Heimo Kendlbacher's yard in Oisnitz, where 12 combinations participated. The second took place in Stadl Paura on 10 - 11 July 2023.

Dr. Ulf Möller served as trainer and selector.  Austria is eligible to send one horse per age category.

Selected for Ermelo are:

5-year olds

  • Auheim’s Sarah Key - by Secret (Breeder: Ägyd Pengg Pferde von Auheim) - rider: Stephanie Dearing
    • Reserve:  Beautiful Zambesi - by Benicio (Breeder & Owner.:Hans-Jörg u. Ulrike Gasser) - rider: Jacqueline Toniutti

6-year olds

  • Allegra - by Diamond Hit (Breeder & Owner.: Wolfgang Wörgötter) - rider: Kerstin Kronaus
    • Reserve: Broadmoars For Gold - by For Romance (Breeder..: Broadmoar) - owner & rider: Nicola Baur-Rona

7-year olds

  • Aramis - by Diamond Hit (Breeder.: Wolfgang Wörgötter) - owner & rider: Martin Hauptmann
    • Reserve: Braveheart - by Bernay (Breeder..: Alfred Leser) - owner & rider: Alissa Hinterleitner

Interesting to note is that both Allegra and Aramis are full siblings, so breeder Wolfgang Wörgötter can celebrate two of his horses going to Ermelo.

Austria is also sending one 4-year old to Ermelo for the 'challenge" class and that is Eyecatcher W (by Escamillo), bred by Andreas Winter and owned and ridden by Lea Pointinger.
