Right before departure to the 2023 European Pony Championships in Le Mans, the German team underwent an important change. Team member Hubertus Stallmeister is out and will be replaced by the first reserve, Maria Teresa Pohl.
Adriano B Out
After having been second reserve in 2022, the 14-year old Stallmeister was supposed to make his German team debut with his 17-year old Adriano B (by De Angelo B x Flying Dream x Valentino), which his family bought in the spring of 2022.
Unfortunately the pair was not able to travel to Le Mans, France, because the pony was not fit to compete.
"It's unfortunate, but the welfare of Adriano is just so important. Maresi will substitute for us. The two are an extremely talented pair and we wish them the best of luck," Hubertus stated on Instagram. Stallmeister is based in Hamburg area and trains with Kristy Oatley.
Der Kleine Sunnyboy In
The first reserve rider, Maria Teresa "Maresi" Pohl, has therefore moved onto the team with the experienced team pony, Der Kleine Sunnyboy.
Der Kleine Sunnyboy is a 13-year old Weser Ems bred gelding by Der Feine Lord x Valentino x Condor. Under Shonna Benner he won won team, individual and kur bronze at the 2019 European Pony Championships and team gold at the 2020 European Pony Championships (fifth individually). The pony sold to Paulina von Wulffen, who competed him through 2021 and then Paulina quit competition sport. In 2022 Der Kleine Sunnyboy moved to Pohl, who trains with Semmieke Rothenberger.
