The FEI has declined to grant the 2023 CDI Salzburg World Cup status. The show will continues as a 4* CDI in 2023.

After a one-year hiatus due to the sudden passing of show director Sepp Göllner, the Amadeus Horse Indoors in Salzburg is back on the FEI calendar for 2023.

This year struggles were noticed between the new organizers' team of Salzburg and the Austrian Equestrian Federation, which demanded bank guarantees that the costs would be covered. These were delivered ad extremis.

No World Cup Qualifier

From there the World Cup application was sent to the FEI, which has now denied to Salzburg on the calendar as a CDI-W for the 2023-2024 Western European League. Insiders claim the argument was used that the December month is already overcrowded (London, Frankfurt, Mechelen).

Salzburg traditionally takes place the first weekend of December. Only in 2021 it was pushed to January to Covid measures. From 2015 till 2021 Salzburg was a Western European League World Cup qualifier, non-stop for seven years, on the same dates.

From 4* to 5* Level

The 2023 CDI Salzburg will be at 4* level and takes place 7 - 10 December 2023 and in 2024 the show is going to be a 5* competition.

Salzburg offers classes in six disciplines.
