German Olympian Dorothee Schneider has announced her withdrawal of Escalito from the 2023 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals in Frankfurt on 14 - 17 December 2023.
The 8-year old Westfalian stallion Escalito (by Escolar x Conello) is not fit to compete.
"Escalito sustained a minor injury and we will not be able to attend this year's final," said Schneider. "The good news is that the injury is not serious and we can look forward to the future. You know that we are alwayscaring for horse and health. Escalito is currently taking a short break, but I am already looking forward to presenting our great athlete - who is always up for some fun - at the shows at the beginning of the year."
Owned by BG Wahler-Heicke, Escalito qualified for the Nurnberger Burgpokal finals - the German Developing Prix St Georges Horse Championship - at the CDI Mannheim, where he scored 74,92%.
Bred by Silvia Palster and initially owned by Gestut Sprehe, the bay stallion was licensed as a premium stallion at the 2017 Westfalian Stallion Licensing, where he sold to Burkhard Wahler for 185,000 euro. Gestut Fohlenhof purchased an ownership share. He was first competed as a youngster by Maike Löer before Hannah Laser took over the ride in 2019. Mannheim was the first show where Schneider began competing Escalito herself.
With the withdrawal of Escalito a spot has opened up for the Final for the first reserve: Carina Harnisch with the DSP registered Sheldon Cooper (by Sezuan x Rosenstein).
