Mexican Pan Am team rider Santiago Ortiz Diez has relocated to a new stable, Piedra Grande Equestrian Clubhouse, a modern architectural yard in Huixquilucan in the mountains near Mexico City.
Located on an 8-hectare property, the facilities include a clubhouse and 110 stalls, which are divided into three two-level modules connected by steel bridges and organized around an open central courtyard. The property is designed by architect Studio RC. The property is owned by a Mexican amateur jumping rider.
Santiago has taken his experienced Grand Prix horses there - Gentil SS (by Altivo SQT x Pagode CI) Bogha (by Don Romantic x Milán), Medidval SS (by Altivo SQT x Napoleónico MV), and Freshman (by Fidertanz x De Niro) - and younger ones which he aims to compete this year.
Santiago is joined there by his siblings Iker and Marina Ortiz Díez.
“The infrastructure of Piedra Grande is exactly what we needed: two big outdoor arenas and an indoor, trails for the horses to hack, sand paddocks, world class stables and beautiful amenities for clients and pupils,” Iker said.
"The intention behind this move is to keep growing and producing more international level horses," Marina commen ted. "For that Piedra Grande was a perfect match because they aspire to do everything with the highest standard and that was exactly what we needed. This place is a dream, the footing, the views, the attention to detail; we could not be happier."
Marcos Santiago Ortiz Diez represented Mexico at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games on the 15-year old KWPN gelding Dagasus (by Painted Black). At the 2023 Pan American Games he finished 6th with the team with the 12-year old Lusitano Gentil (by Altivo x Pagode), but did not make it into the individual freestyle final. He is a three-time consecutive Mexican champion.
