Spanish Grand Prix rider Manuel Dominguez has taken over the ride on the Nurnberger Burgpokal finalist Golden Romance Malleret PS. He has also welcomed Filarmonie de Malleret into his barn in Unna-Massen, Germany.
Manuel Dominguez
The 33-year old Dominguez established himself as an independent professional in the autumn of 2023 after having worked for German Olympian Helen Langehanenberg for 3.5 years.
Manuel first began riding horses for Haras de Malleret, the leading French dressage stallion station and breeding farm, at the beginning of 2023 when he was allocated the stud's flagship stallion, Danciano de Malleret (by Dancier x Rotspon). The Malleret horses were not unfamiliar to him as trainer Helen had been training Zaeta de Malleret and Golden Romance Malleret PS since 2021.
Partner with Paul Schockemöhle
Because Haras de Malleret focuses both on breeding and sport, it made some changes in location and riders for the 2024 breeding year. Malleret partnered with Paul Schockemöhle's stallion station in Mühlen, Germany, to stand Danciano and Golden Romance (by Governor x Sir Donnerhall) at stud and cater to the high demand from breeders across Europe.
The Oldenburg registered Golden Romance Malleret PS is bred by Schockemöhle and is a half brother to the licensed stallions For Romance I and II, Despacito, Feinrich, Don Romance and Furst Donnerhall. As a young horse he placed fourth at the 2019 French Young Horse Championships and won the bronze medal in 2020. Helen Langehanenberg trained him to FEI level and the pair finished fifth in the 2023 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals for Developing Prix St Georges horses in Frankfurt.
Both Danciano and Golden Romance are available with fresh semen at Schockemöhle.
Filarmonie de Malleret
Manuel Dominguez has been put in charge of the training of Golden Romance in Mühlen. The Spaniard also welcomed the 11-year old Hanoverian Filarmonie de Malleret into his barn.
The 11-year old black mare (by Furstenball x De Niro) won bronze at the 2018 French Young Horse Championships and was fifth in 2019. She then moved to Germany for further training with Olympian Dorothee Schneider.
Malleret now matched the mare to Manuel Dominguez. Ten days after arriving in his stable they had a successful competition premier at the CDN Ankum on 14-15 March 2024, scoring 70.437% in the Prix St Georges and winning the Intermediaire I with 70.307%.
"Wow, what a feeling and what a mare," Manuel stated after winning in Ankum. "We still have a lot to know about each other and a lot to improve, but she is a very exciting mare for the future that lies ahead."
Manuel debuted Golden Romance Malleret PS at medium tour level at the CDN Hamminkeln on 7 April, winning the Intermediaire A test with 73.202%. " It couldn't have been better in our debut show," Dominguez commented.
Manuel schedules to compete both at the 2024 Horses & Dreams CDI Hagen on 23 - 27 April 2024.
