Iceland Girl PS, a double British Young Horse Champion under Tom Goode, has passed away. She was 7 years old.

Paul Schockemöhle

Iceland Girl PS was bred by Paul Schockemöhle at Gestut Lewitz in Germany.

She was one of the very few offspring of the young KWPN sire Ierland (by Dream Boy x Jazz). He was the reserve champion of the 2016 KWPN Stallion Licensing, sold to Helgstrand Dressage but little over two months after his licensing he suffered from an inguinal hernia for which he was operated on. Two months later in June 2016 he colicked again and sadly could not be saved at the Højgaard equine clinic.

Iceland Girl PS was out of Lasira (by Londonderry x Sandro Hit), who also produced the Mecklenburger licensed stallion Fandiamo (by Foundation).

Iceland Girl was once competed in Germany by Leandra Jahn in August 2020. They did a riding horse class at a local show in Hude, Germany.

Tom Goode

In the summer of 2021 Iceland Girl PS was discovered by British Olympian Emile Faurie in Germany. He sourced the mare for owner Deborah Cunningham.

Emile's assistant rider Tom Goode was allocated the ride and produced her up the levels.   They first competed in November 2021 at novice level at Onley Grounds equestrian center.  In 2022 the pair won the British Young Horse Championships for 5-year olds.

"We fell in love with her as soon as we saw her when we tried her in Germany. She has a good brain, she loves to show off, and she’s so easy to train at home. It’s inbuilt in her. Everything you ask of her, she just does it really naturally and gives an amazing feeling," Goode said about the mare in 2022.

A year later they were again unbeatable in the 6-year old division at the 2023 British Young Horse Championships. At the start of February 2024 they won the Winter Regional Championships at Medium Level at Onley Grounds with 74.59%.

Untimely Passing

Goode reported the untimely passing of Iceland Girl PS on social media.

"On Saturday (1 June 2024) we lost our special girl Ice after suffering from a rare illness," Goode wrote. "She was such a beautiful horse with an amazing character and talent. It was a privilege to look after and ride her I’m devastated for owner and friend Debbie Cunningham. I’m going to miss her so much, truly heartbroken."
