Dressage judge and commentator Christoph Hess became the recipient of the 2024 Silver Horse Award on 2 July 2024.
For 32 years, the Silver Horse is the most renowned German equestrian media award in the fields of print, TV and radio. Since 2018 it has been included online and "social media" into its consideration. The award is an initiative of the German Riders' and Drivers' Federation (DRFV)
This year, the Silver Horse went to Christoph Hess for his comprehensive social media concept and podcasts. Jannicke Naustdal, Nanna Nieminen and Jenny Abrahamsson came second with their website World of Showjumping, while German para dressage rider Gianna Regenbrecht finished third with her social media account. Frank Kemperman was honored as a personality.
"The jury examined more than 40 applications, including not only contributions from bloggers and online users, but also from editorial staff, athletes, organizers and agencies. The submitted contributions were evaluated on the basis of creativity, quality, user involvement, target group affinity and relevance, among other things," the press release stated.
This year's jury included Wolfgang Brinkmann (Honorary President of the German Equestrian and Driving Association, DRFV), Nadine Capellmann (dressage rider), Philip Erbers (board member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein), Tobias Königs (press officer for CHIO Aachen) and Dr. Ute Gräfin Rothkirch (DRFV board member).
In the "Personality" category, Frank Kemperman was awarded the "Silver Horse". The former chairman of the board of the Aachen-Laurensberger Racing Club and CHIO Aachen Tournament Director, now supervisory board member and vice president, received the award for his decades of commitment to the world equestrian festival.
