German Pony Rider Carolin Ehrich Moves to Junior Division with New Horse

Internationally competing German pony rider Carolin Ehrich is gradually making the transition to junior riders' level with a new ride, Lagavulin.

Lagavulin is a 9-year old Hanoverian by Livaldon out of Wellfair (by Welser x Diadem x Malachit). He is bred by Hans Richelshagen.

Pony Sport

The 16-year old Ehrich is based in Hamburg and has been an active pony rider, particularly in Germany.

Her top pony is Cathrin Beckmann Messfeldt's Dancing Daylight, an 11-year old Westfalian mare by Dreidimensional x Dressman, which took her to her first international competition in her career at the 2023 CDI Exloo, followed by the CDIO Hagen. They were 8th at the 2023 Preis der Besten and fifth at the 2023 German Pony Championships.

At the start of 2024 they were A-squad listed but so far have not show at all this year.

Carolin has also been showing ponies Numerobis (by Numerus Clausus x FS Don't Worry) and Dancing World (by Dating x Dreidimensional) in 2024. With the former she placed sixth at the 2023 Bundeschampionate. In 2022 pony Valentino (by Vidalgo x Champus) was part of her string. Her first show pony was Dubblebee (by HET Golden Dream x Merlin).

Move onto Horses

Carolin Ehrich has now obtained the ride on Lagavulin as her junior horse.

Lagavulin was first shown as a 4-year old by Anna-Lena Sejben. In 2021 Lena Stegemann rode him at a couple of shows at M-level and as of 2022 Anne Koch was onboard. She produced the chestnut to S-level and finished 12th in the 7-year old division at the 2022 Bundeschampionate. In 2023 the pair had a very busy season at S-level, competing in no less than 22 (!) tests in a 6-month period between March and August 2023.

Carolin has now taken over the ride on Lagavulin and premiered him in May at the local show in Wedel-Catharinenhof. From there they went to the show in Derby show in Hamburg for the junior tests and this weekend they competed at Bad Segeburg.

Lagavulin is not Carolin's first horse to compete though. She has been competing her mom Regine Ehrich's schoolmaster, 19-year old Westfalian mare Dark Romance (by Dr. Doolittle x Rapallo), up to S-level between 2019 and 2022, as well as the 16-year Old Oldenburg mare Duchesa Lopez (by De Niro x Lord Liberty) in 2021 and 2022 at L-level.
