Samorin has withdrawn as the host of the 2025 European Dressage Championships. They were planned for 28 - 31 August 2025.
The FEI Board held a teleconference on 27 August and took the decision to withdraw the organisation of the FEI Dressage European Championship 2025 from Šamorín (SVK) at the request of the Organiser.
The Board further directed FEI Headquarters to reopen the bidding process for the 2025 European Dressage Championship.
This is the third time that Samorin has backed out of their intentions to host a major FEI Championship. In 2018 it bid for the World Equestrian Games but pulled out. They were allocated to Tryin. In 2022 Samorin was the sole bidder for the 2022 World Equestrian Games, but again they back-paddled and the FEI then allocated the World Championships to Herning.
The Slovakian city of Samorin has hosted multiple CDI's in 2015, 2016, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
