Three candidates have come forward for the position of president of the German Equestrian Federation. The FN reported this on 30 August.
On 11 July 2024 July FN president Hans-Joachim Erbel stepped down after a tumultuous extraordinary meeting in which budget deficits was discussed. The attending members held several votes of confidence in the current board, which ended up not in favour of Erbel, nor treasurer Gerhard Ziegler, nor secretary-general Sönke Lauterbach. The latter announced his resignation a week later.
Three candidates passed the "vetting" after interviews with the "search committee" and are allowed to run for president. They are Dr. Heinrich Bottermann (68) from Hamminkeln, Hans-Jürgen Meyer (71) from Nottuln, and Prof. Martin Richenhagen (72) from Ostbevern.
In the next step, all three will introduce themselves to the delegates of the general meeting on 10 September 2024 in two internal meetings (sports and breeding/PM) and will be available to answer questions. After that, the Sports Advisory Board to propose one candidate for election to the general meeting in November. This will take place during a separate advisory board meeting in October.
A candidate for the position of FN financial curator was also found. The FN executive committee will propose Peter Krause, chairman of the Berlin-Brandenburg Equestrian Federation, for the by-election at the extraordinary general meeting in November.
